Who's your daddy?

"Train up a child in the way he should and when he is grown up he'll not depart from it. - Prov 22:6
"It's easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.- Pope John XXIII
Yesterday  marked one year since my Dad passed on to join the heavenly hosts, I sat down and  pondered what I had learnt from him and I found myriads of snippets and nuggets of wisdom I never thought much of but now value highly.

Dad was a visionary, he pre-planned and documented everything, as I rummaged through his personals, I found prayer points which were dated many years before focused on us the children.

The Bible records how children were named according to an anticipated goal, and when they were about to die (fathers) would bless their children with that vision in mind.
"Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of  them. - Prov 127:4,5
A Dad  propels "like an arrow" his children into places he has never been, politically, socially, financially etc. He is also described a warrior one who ferociously protects his family/children.

My dad protected us, loved us, rebuked us. I long to emulate him. Love you forever Dad

"Up the ante."

"...... are changed into the same image from glory to glory"  2Cor 3:18
" Maybe strong is just what you have left when you've used up all your weak .. anon

I suppose the biggest mystery we have in life is "WHY," why do I live, the answer to that question gives purpose, a focus, a reason. Unfortunately even with this knowledge we get side tracked  and lose focus. Many of these distractions can be detrimental to fulfilment of this purpose.

Tiger Woods's infidelity nearly wrecked his career, cost him a fortune, he lost his family, his reputation, his earning and lost his "mojo." A comeback to number 1 status has been hard, another prominent Olympian is Oscar Pistorius a great athlete who created history by being the first paralympian to race in the Olympics, his failure to curb and control his temperament has landed in big trouble, potentially wrecking all he has built.

Having said all this I can positively say when you are down the only way you can go is up, its time to up the ante, find your mojo, its time for a comeback.

"..for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again. - Prov 24:16.
George Foreman returned to the ring to become champion at 40, Tiger Woods is back to his form, All these shenanigans that dominate our characters should be overcome, so we can become better people, better husbands, better fathers, greater champions. People love a great comeback, yours and mine

BE A CHAMPION

Not seeing the forest for the trees

"Even though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil._-Psalm 23:4

"Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness, - Napoleon Hill

Instant gratification seems to be the order of the day, everything around us is built to be faster, smaller, more convenient, even computer games have cheats. They are books called "....... for dummies, instructions on how to bluff your way into a job.

Will Smith tells of a summer his Dad broke down a wall in front of business and asked him and his brother to rebuild it a task he deemed impossible. He further states he started out by laying each brick as skilfully and perfectly as a brick can be laid. The wall was the target but the bricks created that wall. It took a year to rebuild it, brick by brick, with focus.

Every brick has to be laid perfectly for a perfect wall. but never lose sight of the big picture,  that's why you do the  small things to get you to that one big thing

I am reminded of the first born son of Isaac, Esau who sacrificed his inheritance and standing as the first born for a meal. Sometimes we get bogged down with the moment that we don't consider the repercussions of our poor judgement. Sometimes you have to let it hurt a bit more so you can rejoice later.

Life doesn't guarantee a smooth ride, hard times will come, situations which derail will turn up, but never sacrifice the future for the present. Every situation has a beginning and end "this too shall pass."

"In this world you will have tribulation.........." John 16:33
