Victor Mulenga Chanda - A true champion

VC, nothing could fill the gap you have left in my heart. I will miss those frequent calls where we laughed and reminisced about Dk and UNZA. I remembered at Chi Alpha how they frequently asked "Brother Victor can you lead us as we sing Chineke Idima," When I heard the news of your passing my whole body froze, it felt like i had a huge lump in my throat. My first question was why Lord.?

You truly were a champion, how that you supported your siblings when your Dad passed on. I qoute William Shakespeare " A coward dies a thousand deaths ... a soldier dies but once. How you looked that beast called cancer and defeated it once but alas the battle was not over yet. Your laugh was infectious, and your smile alluring.

I will see you again my brother so we can laugh together again. YOU TRULY WERE A CHAMPION, you will be greatly missed. MYSRIP

Man up, stand tall

"The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone" - Psalm 118:22
"Success is buried at the other side of rejection" - Tony Robbins
Don't sweat it when you are rejected, everything that is worth its salt will be tested. The key is perseverance. Jesus was rejected by the Jews and early Christians were described as belonging to the sect (a school of thought considered heretical), today 2.1 billion people profess Christianity,  that is a third of the world population.

Henry Ford had up to five unsuccessful attempts to establish an automobile company that left him broke. His vision outlasted his rejection and even after his death Ford is a worldwide recognised brand

Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor for lacking imagination. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basket team. J K Rowling (Author of the Harry Porter series) submitted her work to 12 publishing houses and was rejected by them all. Elvis Presley was fired after a single performance and told "you ain't going nowhere son, you ought to go back to driving a truck.

Mark Zuckerberg (creator of facebook) while at Harvard had to shut his website down after running for only 2 days amidst complaints of unauthorised use of other students pictures. He had to apologise and describe the site as improper.

Nelson Mandela was once described as a terrorist by Margaret Thatcher, but today is hailed as a hero. You don't have to be conform to peoples opinion, hold onto your vision

Life is not a 100 metre dash, but a marathon,  run your race with perseverance, make mistakes and learn from them, if you fall the marathon is still on, rise up and continue the race.

Your vision, your goal, your desire is greater than rejection. when you allow rejection to alter your vision (your goal, your destiny) you lose focus. I recently overheard how an elderly couple after retiring from the jobs continued being active by getting involved community based activities (helping at church, hospices etc),  while their contemporaries were dying off as they lost focus without there jobs.

Truly, where the is no vision, the people perish, don't lose heart, don't faint, Your victory is but a stones throw away.

BE THAT CHAMPION !!!

It ain't over till the fat lady sings

"He that endures to the end, shall be saved" - Mark 13:13
"Life is  truly known only to those who suffer, lose, endure adversity, and stumble from defeat to defeat" - Anais Nin
Life throws everything at us, the good, the bad and the real nasty, but whatever does not kill you makes you stronger, helps you fulfil your destiny. Every experience in your life, your ups, your downs, your accomplishment, your defeats, your victories, your weakness, your strengths are all a part of a great plot to you fulfilling your destiny

Christopher Reeve (Superman) fell from his horse and had horrific injuries to his spine/neck which had him confined to a wheelchair. He contemplated suicide, but chose against it, in his state he lobbied strongly for stem cell research, established research centers to help the paralysed, he continued to make movies and even had his directorial debut while confined to a wheel chair. Reeve's significance was greater after his tragic accident than before.

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure inspite of overwhelming obstacles" - Christopher Reeve
Your life is a journey regardless of the pains, the  misfortunes, make the best of it, turn the trials into triumphs, your stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

BE THAT CHAMPION!!!

Risk takers

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained"
"Woe unto them that are at ease in Zion"- Amos 6:1
I have come out of 2010 thinking time surely waits for no man, without my permission time has forged ahead. I was reminded of the movie "The bucket list" two terminally ill individuals who produce a list of things that they would like to do before they kick the bucket.
"Whoever watches the wind will not plant, whoever looks at the clouds will not reap" - Eccl 11:4
Throw caution to the wind and take risks, do what you have always wanted to do, you only live once " go for it." Go on get involved in something bigger than you. take some risks. If you don't succeed at least you know that doesn't work and you look for a way that does.

James Dyson, the inventor of the cyclonic vacuum cleaners, could not get distributors and manufacturers for his invention, but now outsells the very companies that rejected  him. I once heard kirk Franklin (christian artist) say that he had received more nos than yeses in his life and yet stands out as a successful artist

Risk takers make the news, they are the eccentric people who don't exactly fit in but gain enormous strides in their efforts. Michael Jackson took a risk in producing the music video for thriller, it was longer than most music videos, a whole lot more gory, the dancing was more risque, but is probably the greatest musical video ever.
My message for 2011 is take risks
BE THAT CHAMPION!!!
